Women Invest in Real Estate Blog #1: Welcome!
Hello, and welcome to our very first Women Invest in Real Estate blog post! We are so excited to kick-off the blog after we had the chance to launch our podcast, Women Invest in Real Estate hosted by Amelia and Grace. We’re excited to share more about our back stories and the lessons we’ve learned during our investing journey.
Introducing, Amelia!
I'm a 30 year old investor from Des Moines, Iowa. My investing journey started in 2019, when I bought my first property with my parents to flip, and we ended up selling that property in June of 2020. From there, I realized that I didn't want to do flips, I wanted to buy rental properties to earn passive income every single month. My plan was to use my portion of the proceeds from that flip to put down payments on some rental properties.
We finally found a four bed two bath, we bought for $28,000. With this first property, everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. But, I'm a firm believer in just getting started. I am so excited to share more of my real estate journey with you all here at WIIRE.
Introducing, Grace!
I actually had an Instagram presence before real estate, which is so funny now, but it just goes to show that I knew I wanted to do something I just didn't know what it was. Then when I started to get in real estate, I pivoted my presence to talk about real estate and that’s how I met Amelia, which is insane we were able to connect and grow our business together over Instagram.
After a year into my job in engineering, I landed our first property deal with my boyfriend in February of 2021. And it was a full gut DIY. Not a smart idea. Luckily, my boyfriend had a lot of experience, and we did great numbers wise on that property. My lesson learned is to double the rehab a mountain double the timeline.
Throughout my time in real estate, I’ve learned so much and have been able to connect within the industry to incredible women. I am looking forward to sharing my resources with you and connecting hopefully in person as well!

After joining forces, we decided to make a monthly meetup for women in real estate. And that’s how WIIRE was born.
How can you get involved? If you’re looking for a community of empowered women in all stages of real estate, you’ve come to the right place. If you’re starting your journey we have several academies from our experiences that you can find here that include MTR Profit Academy, Property Management Academy, Running the Numbers, and several female real estate retreats a year where we bring women in real estate from across the country together for programming and a whole lot of fun!
